DES Initiative Twins Meet: Barcelona and Temuco

The DES Initiative in collaboration with its partner Engie organised a study tour for a Chilean delegation from the city of Temuco to visit the different district energy systems available in Barcelona. The study tour took place on 7-8 September, 2017 and was combined with a meeting with the energy agency of the Municipality of Barcelona.

Temuco is one of the pilot cities selected by the District Energy in Cities Initiative in Chile. The city is currently receiving “light touch” support under the GEF project “Increasing Investments in District Energy Systems in Cities. The “light touch” support includes undertaking a rapid assessment to identify the potential of district energy in the city as well as awareness raising and capacity building activities.
